He is a god of Japanese legend, born along with Amaterasu and Tsukuyomi. He was cast out for lewd behavior, but redeemed himself with heroic deeds like slaying Yamata-no-Orochi. He is the god of storms and seas. He is also the ruler of Yomi, the land of the dead in some accounts. One of his long-form names is Takehaya Susanoo-no-Mikoto. Takehaya means "fast building".
